School Governor

Kath has been a governor for 16 years at a large primary school on the Bransholme estate in Hull. She has been chair of governors for the last 9 years and the school was judged as ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED in February 2015. he completed the chair of governors’ course accredited by Edge Hill University in 2013.

Kath was the local authority Extended Schools Adviser from January 2008 until December 2010. She was responsible for the allocation of a substantial budget to schools as well as coordinating, monitoring and evaluating programmes of study support, after school activities, parental support and community use of schools in all schools across the city. She also managed a team of 10 Parent Support Advisers deployed in schools across the city.

Education Action Zone

Kath was a member of a team of 12 advisory staff working for the Education Action Zone from 1999 until 2008. She worked as a Family Learning Innovator across 2 secondary schools, 12 primary schools and 2 special schools initiating, monitoring and evaluating projects to engage parents in supporting childrens’ learning.

Adult Education

Kath was a part-time basic skills tutor and later a full time Adult Education manager for West Hull managing a team of administration staff and course tutors delivering programmes of vocational and non- vocational learning.  She also established the City and Guilds Certificate in Learning Support, whilst working for Adult Education, training hundreds of teaching assistants working in Hull and East Riding schools over a period of 6 years from 1993-99.

Humberside County Council

Kath was a full-time teacher of RE in several East Riding secondary schools and part-time supply teacher in Hull and East Riding schools.
