Michael Dennison BA (Hons) PGCE

Education Associate

Michael is a highly experienced and effective professional educationalist, Ofsted inspector and senior Local Authority officer.   He has led teams of consultants as Project Director for two key DfE-initiated interventions: North East Lincolnshire [Children First Strategic Partnership] and the Isle of Wight School Improvement and Inclusion Project.  He has broad experience in a wide range of educational and children’s services sectors and specialises in raising standards, building leadership capacity and performance management in schools and local authorities.

DCSF / North East Lincolnshire Council
Programme Director of Children First Strategic Partnership: developing a strategic partnership with NELINCS Council to integrate effective children’s services and raise standards in secondary schools.

DCSF / Isle of Wight County Council
Project Director, School Improvement and Inclusion Project: working with IOW services and a range of partner providers to raise standards and improve outcomes for children and young people in IOW.

South Nottinghamshire Academy
Education Consultant on the Academy transfer project; then asked to become Executive Principal. In that period 5A*-C GCSE results improved by 25% and in 2013 in its first Ofsted inspectors judged the Academy to have moved from Inadequate to Good in 18 months.

DfE Education Adviser
Currently working with Regional School Commissioners to review the performance of open Academies and report to Head Teacher Boards.
